IFoRE ‘22

Saturday evening at IFoRE will feature a special performance from actor Heather Massie in her award-winning 36 character solo show, “HEDY! The Life & Inventions of Hedy Lamarr.”

Hollywood icon Hedy Lamarr, once named “most beautiful woman in the world,” was a star of the silver screen in the early to mid twentieth century. But what some don’t realize is that she was also an accomplished inventor who provided groundbreaking torpedo systems for the U.S. military in World War II and developed the groundwork for today’s cell phones and other commonly utilized wireless technology.

Having studied Astrophysics with dreams of becoming an astronaut, Heather Massie marries her loves of art and science in the person of Hedy Lamarr. While interacting with the audience, Massie brings Hedy to life and plays 33 other characters including Jimmy Stewart, George Sanders, Bette Davis, and Louis B. Mayer. The audience summons Hedy to unearth the truth behind how such a glamorous actress could create an invention which is ubiquitous today.

The mission of Massie’s show is to establish Hedy Lamarr as a role model for intelligence, ingenuity & invention; encouraging young women in endeavors of science & technology; and inspiring audiences to find ways each day to make the world a better place. This special performance is open to all IFoRE attendees and will take place as the featured event following the Saturday evening awards banquet.

This show is proudly sponsored by John Nemeth & Grace Toney Edwards.
